👑 It is an understated hero of an oil. The Yoda of oils! Stalwart, wise & knowing and with mighty power is Frankincense. Cleopatra, The Queen of Sheba & King Solomon were big fans...and of course we all know it was thought a worthy gift from The Wise Men. Prized throughout history to heal, purify and to summon higher spirits.
🌿I love it for its multitude of uses. If you’re looking to still a hectic mind, or you need focus and want a clear head it’s a great choice. When you need to be alert but don’t want to be stimulated or feel wired it works brilliantly. A great aid to study, work or creative time.
🤧It’s an antiseptic and healing oil for the respiratory symptoms, so if I am suffering from a cold or chesty cough I’ll apply it as a body oil or inhale a few drops over steam. It makes me feel better, as well as calmer.
🧘🏻♀️ Heralded as a spiritual oil Frankincense helps you connect with your true self and is particularly useful in meditation and yoga practice for its ability to promote effective breathing. When I sniff Frankincense I instinctively take a deep breath.
📚In “The Fragrant Heavens” Valerie Ann Worwood tells us, ”In cases of spiritual shock or loss, when the spirit can step out of the body, even for a brief moment, frankincense can gently ease us back to our earthy home”
💚In skin care it’s healing and good for mature and ageing skin... yes, it may help keep those wrinkles at bay ;-)
✨In terms of blending I find it works well with many oils. It’s aroma is hard to describe... a scent of delicate resin with a sweet top note and almost balsamic undertones; it’s unique for sure.
🌸I use it with Lavender, Roman Chamomile & Vetiver to promote good sleep . With Grapefruit, Bergamot & Rosemary for a more energising blend when one needs to be alert. It also works wonderfully with woods & spices, I recently made a body oil with Sandalwood, Frankincense, Cardamon & Vetiver and it was lush 🤩
